16-31 March 2014 Cyber Attacks Timeline

And here we are with the second part of the Cyber Attacks Timeline (first part here).

The prize for the most noticeable breach of the month goes in Korea, where a 31-year-old man has been arrested for infiltrating the account of 25 million users of Never, a local Internet Portal (actually it happened several months ago but was unveiled in this month). Other noticeable events include the trail of attacks against several Universities (Maryland, Auburn, Purdue, Wisconsin-Parkside), the compromising of personal information of 550,000 employees and users of Spec’s, the leak of 158,000 forum users of Boxee.tv and 95,000 users of Cerberus and, finally, a breach targeting the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Last but not least, even the infamous Operation Windigo has deserved a mention in the timeline.

Moving to Hacktivism, chronicles report of a couple of hijackings performed, as usual, by the Syrian Electronic Army, a…

°° Sardegna: L’esercito di MangiaNeonati alla riscossa °°

Think Green • Live Vegan • Love Animals

cadaveri di maialini” Dio mio………………………………………. it’s a paradise !!”
“Se questo è il medioevo così sia!!”

Un uomo e due donne ( eh già……

Pulitzer for Snowden Revelations

Edward Snowden
NSA whistleblower praises Guardian and Washington Post after pair share Pulitzer prize for public service

I am grateful to the committee for their recognition of the efforts of those involved in the last year’s reporting, and join others around the world in congratulating Glenn Greenwald, Laura Poitras, Barton Gellman, Ewen MacAskill and all of the others at the Guardian and Washington Post on winning the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.

Today’s decision is a vindication for everyone who believes that the public has a role in government. We owe it to the efforts of the brave reporters and their colleagues who kept working in the face of extraordinary intimidation, including the forced destruction of journalistic materials, the inappropriate use of terrorism laws, and so many other means of pressure to get them to stop what the world now recognises was work of vital public importance.

This decision reminds us that…

Security’s Secret Shame

The Networking Nerd

photo-2 Heartbleed captured quite a bit of news these past few days.  A hole in the most secure of web services tends to make people a bit anxious.  Racing to release patches and assess the damage consumed people for days.  While I was a bit concerned about the possibilities of exposed private keys on any number of web servers, the overriding thought in my mind was instead about the speed at which we went from “totally secure” to “Swiss cheese security” almost overnight.

Jumping The Gun

As it turns out, the release of the information about Heartbleed was a bit sudden.  The rumor is that the people that discovered the bug were racing to release the information as soon as the OpenSSL patch was ready because they were afraid that the information had already leaked out to the wider exploiting community.  I was a bit surprised when I learned this…

Blackshirt Mob Attacks Progressive Candidate in Ukraine

Political Film Blog

The mob are the valiant “democracy activists,” seen here violently destroying democracy in Ukraine…

These are Obama/Kerry/Nuland and the EU’s golden boys who can do no wrong.  Nazis are alive and well in Ukraine.  America — this is your tax money at work.

NATO’s Pet Nazis Savage Ukrainian Presidential Candidate

Ukrainian presidential candidate Oleg Tsarev was savagely beaten outside a TV studio after an interview for the Ukrainian talk show, ‘Svoboda Slova.’ The studio was apparently surrounded by armed men in masks earlier, preventing Tsarev from leaving after the interview. When he did finally emerge, masked men with Svoboda Neo-Nazi “Wolfsangel” armbands began throwing objects at, choking, and physically beating Tsarev.

Dramatic video of the confrontation was captured, and exposes the successors of the “Euromaidan” protests as not a “pro-democracy” movement, but a mob using violence and intimidation to disrupt and destroy all political opposition to their agenda.

In an…
